| Who we are
Statale 11, was officially founded in 2004 with
the precise goal of publishing books of artistic value by young
Italian and foreign writers.
Six months later, in a warm May night, we presented the first book
of our catalogue to the public - not without a certain emotion.
It was a thriller that marked the start of both our work as a publishing
company and one of our main series: Avant Garden, dedicated to noir
and thriller but also open to influences from avant-pop and experimental
literature.
Within a few weeks, from the beginning of June to mid July 2005,
two new books opened two more series: one dedicated to young literature
(Gli Spostati, “The misfits”, from the title of an old
film directed by John Houston in 1961, about the dreams and aspirations
of the current young generation) and one dedicated to non-fiction
and essays (Terza Pagina)
An editorial line midway between the general and the specific, that
has soon proved to be a winner; every series has its own connotations,
is independent from the others and follows its own path.
At the base of those first volumes and of all the ones that have
followed is a great work of pre-production of the book as an object,
starting with a detailed editing where the author works in synergy
with the editor at revising the manuscript. Then a cover is accurately
devised, with the aim to design a product able to attract the attention
of even the less keen readers.
Following the Anglo-Saxon model, and thanks to the collaboration
with great literary agencies, contents and images have become the
pillars of a project maybe too ambitious but certainly innovative.
In December 2005, a year after the birth of our project, thanks
to Armando Garbarini, we started La Linea Del Tempo, a new series
based not only on the mix between word and images but also prose
and poetry.
Finally, thanks to a literary competition, a new project is going
to see the light soon, Laisons, dedicated to women’s literature
and refined erotism.
